About 6 years ago we discovered the Lagotto Romagnolo breed and fell in love. We were looking for a purebred dog that would not shed, was of medium size, active and could be a part of our household. We discovered that the Lagotto was a rare breed and we liked that we could have a hand in preserving their lineage and bring attention to their value as a companion dog. Being experienced breeders of the Maremma, an Italian guardian dog, we decided that we would shift our breeding program to the Lagotto Romagnolo and retire our Maremmas. We live on a 30-acre hobby farm surrounded by crown land that provides the most natural and healthy environment for our dogs. Our dogs have been raised in our home, but also take part in farm life where they make daily visits with the horse, cows, chickens, pigs and cat. They get to use their highly developed sense of smell and intellectual abilities to track wildlife and dig for treats. After a long day they curl up on the couch or relax in their kennel for a rest.
Although we love this breed, we would not recommend the Lagotto Romagnolo to a first-time dog owner who may not have the time or stamina required for healthy puppy development. Their need for mental and physical stimulation is very high and can be overwhelming for an inexperienced dog owner. For those individuals who have the time and/or experience, the Lagotto Romagnolo can be one of the best breeds to have as an active companion and family member.
We are a small breeder, and our dogs are our pets first. We have a breeding pair, Rhéa Lité is our female and she comes from Grand Champion bloodlines in France and Regun Udor aka: Santino our male comes from a breeder in Italy. As a family focused breeder, we breed for companionship and look for families who are interested in providing a puppy with a stable, fun loving and active lifestyle that does not include the pressures of the show ring. If you are interested in a companion puppy or wish to learn more about the breed or our breeding program, please contact us.
Best wishes on finding your perfect companion.
